Westmore boasts two full service general stores, two excellent restaurants, and a pub. We also have small boat rentals, kayak and canoe rentals, and a hiking guide service here in Westmore. There are two beautiful natural beaches, one at each end of the lake. Both have solid sand bottoms which make for a great afternoon of swimming. With over 1650 acres of open water, 5 miles long, 1 mile wide, Willoughby is one of the largest, cleanest lakes in Vermont. We have a state maintained fishing access located at the mid-point of the lake. Depths are over 360 feet deep between our two trademark mountains, Mt Pisgah and Mt Hor. With trails up these and three other mountains in town, hikers can climb a different trail and different mountain every day of the week. Most mornings, you will awake to the call of our loons enjoying a peaceful swim in the lake.
1996 This 29.40 pound Laker was caught in Willoughby Lake! It holds the world record for ice fishing according to the National Freshwater Fishing Hall Of Fame.
